Less is so much more!

We’re well into January and if I’m really listening to myself - which I find quite difficult sometimes - all I want is less! Less to do and less to have.
Christmas time gave us some glitteringly gorgeous family moments and a New Year’s Eve conversation that lead to choosing a WORD not a RESOLUTION for 2025. Mine is ‘glide’! I chose it whilst I was swimming that day - my fave thing. Put my strength where it’s needed and enjoy the momentum!
In tandem with this I’ve been reading ‘LESS’ by Patrick Grant. An affirming antidote to all the stuff that Christmas time brings which leaves me feeling just a bit yucky. And it turns out that less is actually loads more! Less striving - more gliding, less stuff - more connection. And I mean with your clothes obvs! As I return to DOLLY this last week or so intent on a mindful January, DEGROWTH is another word that resonates - there’s that ‘less’ concept again!
Our zero waste kits are a perfect example of this degrowth mindset - cut from deadstock (that’s left-overs from the fashion industry), we pre-cut them using up every last little off cut and scrap - nothing left over for us and nothing left over for you! So before you even start sewing there’s an affirming sense of less, and a huge dollop joy and connection from making your very own forever garment. So much more!
Oh and before I sign off for another 4 weeks (yes I’ll be chatting all things conscious clothing once a month) may I share one of those little (but big) glittering family moments with you. I won the yearly raffle toy polar bear, Manny, at my Choir Carol Concert - it’s only been 20 years since I joined the choir! I was determined to show my now grown up kids the power of manifestation - see what I did there … Manny, the bear … and decided that bear was mine (or my future grandkids!) It’s amazing what you can do when you put your body and soul into something! So how about that something being sewing! Learning to sew is the perfect way to keep the clothes you have in tip top condition or give them a glow up. Come to a class - we can do it together!
