The Great DOLLY Kick-Off Clothes Swap

Clothes Swap

Thursday 13th July 5-7pm The Dripping Pan - Lewes Community Football Club Mountfield Road, Lewes BN7 2XA

Kick off the summer hols with a very special clothes swap co-hosted by the DOLLY and Equality FC dream team!

We are beyond excited to collaborate with the first gender-equal football club in THE WORLD, our very own Lewes FC, punching way above our small-town weight to build a better, fairer, sustainable future*.

This is going to be a BIG one, with loads going on. We’re taking over Lewes FC stadium, aka The Dripping Pan, spreading out across the Rook Inn, the stands and the huts. Here's just a taster of what to expect:

  • Rails and rails of new-to-you clothes spaced out across the stands

  • An alteration station in one of the huts

  • Changing room in another hut

  • Styling tips in yet another hut

  • A dedicated area for sports gear swaps

  • Pre-loved Lewes FC kit for sale (‘pay as you like’ donations go straight to Lewes FC)

  • The Rook Inn bar serving special World Cup-themed cocktails, as well as their usual beers, soft drinks, and prosecco-on-tap, in celebration of the imminent FIFA Women's World Cup.

If you’ve not been to one of our clothes swaps before, here’s how it works:

  • Grab yourself a ticket via Eventbrite (or pay at the door if you don’t mind queueing)

  • Drop off your swaps at DOLLY (3 North Court, Lewes, BN7 2AR) beforehand or bring them with you on the day

  • Come to The Dripping Pan on Thursday 13th at 5pm, grab a drink and browse the collection of good quality clothes and sports gear looking for a new life. Take home anything you promise to keep in circulation, wear and love.

  • Chat to us, to each other, learn something new at the styling and alteration station, be inspired by the amazing work of Equality FC and get involved.

  • Leave as a fashion and football revolutionary!

We can’t wait to see you there!

Big love,

Diana, Mica and the Equality FC team

IMPORTANT NOTE:

TRADERS, please be in touch if you’d like to come late and take as much as you want after the main event. We love collaborating to keep clothes in circulation, but the social aspect of our clothes swaps is vitally important to our mission. In order to protect that, anyone showing up with sharp elbows and a bag so big it’s a safety hazard will be turned away. However, if you want to come towards the end there are always plenty of gems to be scooped up. Thanks for understanding! x

P.S.

*Wondering how equality FC and sustainability fit together? Recent research from the UN Secretary General shows that when women lead, we are better able to mitigate climate disaster. True fact.

Sustainability isn’t just about climate change, it’s about systems-change. Our environmental crisis and our unbalanced society are both symptoms of the same broken system (a system that exploits both people and planet) - that’s why we need to change the system to create a sustainable future. The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals are a roadmap to help us get there. And it’s no coincidence that SDG5 is gender equality.

We can’t solve our current problems using the same thinking that got us into them. We need new ideas, new voices, new ways of working, new ways of running football clubs, new ways of producing and consuming fashion, new ways of living.
