What's Visible Mending? I hear you say!

On April 20th 2024 it’s Mend In Public Day – we’ll be out on the street visibly visible mending!

So... what's visible mending?

Firstly, it’s a badge of honour! Repairing with a show-off frame of mind. And there’s so much to show off about. You’re showing the world your commitment to keeping your clothes out of landfill and on your backs. Repair is a revolutionary act.

Secondly, visible mending is ACTUALLY where your repair becomes a feature (and not a failure). It’s what I love doing most of all. I find it endlessly creative; free reign to transform something of a problem into something precious.

Patch it, embroider it, darn it, edge it, bind it – whatever you do turns your flawed garment into a unique piece. And by the very process of visibly mending your clothes, you have instantly created an emotional attachment to it. That attachment makes it much more difficult to let go of. Keeping your clothes is what we’re all about.
